Siberian Federal University invites you to take free courses in Russian language and literature and masterclasses in culture and regional studies. Send an application now and become part of the federal project for preparing international students to study at Russian universities!

Сибирь.ру – the Center for Open Education in the Russian language is a unique project of Siberian Federal University, created by the Institute of Philology and Language Communication with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The main goal of the project is to help future international students who aspire to study in Russia.

The programmes were developed by SibFU lecturer team and will begin in November online with open access for everyone. Successful graduates can receive bonuses and discounts for further studies at the university.

You can already register for the first nine Sibir.ru centre events:

1. Russian for Beginners – Your Siberian Holidays.
November 2 - 30, 2020
Duration: 36 hours (including 9 1.5 hour Zoom sessions)
Russian language level: zero

Start your Russian going from the very top! This course will allow you to learn your first words and basic grammar and vocabulary. The lessons take place in Zoom, on the e-Siberia platform and include homework after each session.
Bonus: the best students will receive a 10% discount on training at the SibFU preparatory department.

2. Geography of Russia.
November 2 - 30, 2020
Duration: 72 hours (including 9 1.5 hour Zoom sessions)
Russian language level: B1 and above

This course will allow you to get to know Russia and Siberia better. Dive into the culture, traditions, geography and climate of this region and learn about the sights and peculiarities of Krasnoyarsk, the capital of Siberia, in particular.
Bonus: the best students will receive a 10% discount on language courses at SFU.

3. Course on Russian literature Pro-reading.
November 16 - December 14, 2020
Duration: 36 hours (including 9 1.5 hour Zoom sessions)
Russian language level: B2 and above

Get acquainted with the famous Russian classical literature, as well as with the most popular modern authors and novels.
Bonus: the top 10 students will have the opportunity to take the History of Russian Literary Criticism online SibFU course in the spring semester of 2021.

4. Advanced Russian language course About Russian in Russian.
November 16 - December 14, 2020
Duration: 36 hours (including 9 1.5 hour Zoom sessions)
Russian language level: B2 and above

Get in-depth knowledge of the Russian language stylistics and the peculiarities of Russian phonetics. The course also includes vocabulary, phraseology, word formation basics, as well as Russian conversation etiquette.
Bonus: 10 best students will receive free access to the Russian Conversation online SibFU course in the spring semester of 2021.

1. With a song through life musical masterclass.

Russian language level: level A2 + and above
With this masterclass, you will get acquainted with Russia's musical side. Get ready for lots of songs and positive vibes.

2. Siberian pelmeni culinary masterclass.
November 2020
Russian language level: level A2 + and above
Under the guidance of a professional chef, you will learn how to cook one of the most popular dishes – Russian dumplings, "pelmeni". You will also get acquainted with the Siberian cuisine, famous recipes and gastronomic traditions.

3. A cycle of 3 lessons on Russian traditional arts and crafts.
November 14, November 21, December 5, 2020
Russian language level: level A2 + and above
Learn about folk Russian crafts, history and traditions, make a Russian doll, create a traditional costume and painting, etc.

4. A walk through Russia game
November 28, 2020
Russian language level: level B1 and above
A team game to better your knowledge of the Russian language and geography.

5. Philological football game
December 12, 2020
Russian language level: level B1 and above
A team game to better your knowledge of the Russian language.

You can register for one or several events. In the future, the Сибирь.ру Center plans to launch many other fascinating programmes and masterclasses.
