SPbPU International Students Visit Nuclear Power Plant

Students from 12 countries formed an opinion about the new technologies used at a Russian NPP.

Fifteen students from Turkey, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, Italy, India, Germany, Austria and Pakistan on programmes in power engineering at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University visited the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. In the course of the tour, they saw a new, reliable and safe NPP reactor currently undergoing testing, the construction of the second reactor of a similar type and its equipment installation. The visitors were impressed by the scope of construction and innovative solutions. “Russia is a nuclear technology leader so we’ll gain modern and deep knowledge here,” said Emre Beki, a second-year student from Turkey.

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is a leading Russian university offering international prospective students many engineering fields. Nuclear technology is particularly popular. SpbPU created the Nuclear Power Engineering department based on the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant which trains specialists in nuclear power engineering and thermal physics, NPP operation and renewable energy. The university holds winter and summer power engineering schools every year.
