Baku played host to one of the major IT events, the 31st International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2019). This year, the academic competition brought together more than 300 people from 88 countries including the United States, China, Great Britain, Germany, India, Vietnam, Australia etc. The Russian team led the IOI 2019 medals tally with four golds. The country was represented by schoolchildren from several cities: Ildar Gainullin from Lobachevsky Lyceum, Kazan Federal University; Yegor Lifar from the Moscow-based school “Intellectual”, Vladimir Romanov from A.Kolmogorov School, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Alexander Morozov from St Petersburg Physics and Mathematics Lyceum 239.
