Isaque De Oliveira Ferreira, Brazil
Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University
Living and studying in Kaliningrad has been a very positive experience for me
Hello! My name is Isaque and I am from Brazil. I am a second-year student at IKBFU, doing a Master’s programme in Management - «Innovative technologies of business development». I have been living in Kaliningrad for three years now. Before enrolling into the Master’s programme, I had finished the IKBFU preparatory course. That was a unique experience!
The first time I heard about Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University was when my Brazilian friend from Moscow told me about it. My first days in Kaliningrad were difficult because I arrived a week late - however, moving into the student dormitory and filing all the required paperwork was easy and everything turned out fine. Now I think that Kaliningrad was the best choice I could have made for studying in Russia. The city is beautiful, and its history is quite impressive. My favourite thing is that I can reach everywhere by foot - I like going on walks just to explore the city and enjoy the views.
While I was initially surprised by how relatively small the city was, I do enjoy living here now. Kaliningrad boasts having many parks, beautiful nature, historic architecture and, of course, the sea. Furthermore, its location is very convenient - you can easily visit other countries.
The Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is always willing to help the students. That really shone through during the pandemic, as it was committed to ensuring that all the classes took place online and providing all the necessary support.
Living and studying in Kaliningrad has been a very positive experience for me, and I can only be grateful. Not only can I interact with Russian students while studying in the same group with them, I am also able to learn about different cultures from around the world, through interaction with students from other countries.
Obviously, studying abroad also has its challenges and difficulties. However, it is possible to overcome them, and IKBFU is always ready to help us. After graduating, I plan either to get a postgraduate degree or to continue living in Kaliningrad for at least three more years!
