I was able to find a lot of new friends and improve my Russian language
The information that I got before my arrival about the bureaucratic process of Russia was very useful, for example, the travel requirements within the country (registration). At first, it was difficult to understand the people around me and that was frustrating but it was mainly because of my lack of the Russian language skills. After a month I could deal with everyday situations, and life became much easier.
I would advise the university staff to be in constant contact with the students and clearly explain Russian bureaucracy and culture because it is different from other places. As for my Russian courses I loved them. I would not change anything, they were very helpful. The most challenging was studying the verbs of motion and trying to speak correctly.
I liked my living conditions. I would not change something but I would advise the future students to make an effort to adapt, and the lack of hot water for two weeks is not the end of the world.
Petrozavodsk is a small town with friendly people. I always felt comfortable and had a lot of opportunities to interact with locals.
PetrSU is a great place to study language. It is also extremely easy to find. My teachers are very good and you notice your improvement with each day of class. The personnel of the International Office was very helpful and friendly. I have never encountered any problems.
I really enjoyed my stay in Petrozavodsk. I had the opportunity to make a lot of friends and improve my Russian. I made the right choice for the summer language course because I always felt included in the society. I will always remember my experience here.
