In modern conditions, the field of activity in the direction of "Preventive Medicine" is expanding. Prevention, as one of the types of medical activity, is becoming more and more in demand. The past restructuring of the sanitary and epidemiological service required the training of scientific and practical personnel in various fields to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Changes in the system of academic science as a result of the merger of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences with the Russian Academy of Sciences and the emergence of a medical department in the RAS system also determined the emergence of new problems solved by medical science and preventive science in particular. All this presupposes the formation of a cohort of preventive scientists, taking into account modern requirements.
Graduates have a wide choice of employment: universities, research institutes FEB RAS, institutions of Rospotrebnadzor RF.
The purpose of the educational program is to acquire the level of competence necessary for the implementation of professional activities and preparation for the defense of a scientific qualification work (dissertation) for the degree of candidate of sciences.
The objectives of the educational program are to provide methodological support for the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education in this area of training and, on this basis, to develop personal qualities in graduate students; to form universal and professional competencies in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education, in this area of training; to provide comprehensive training of highly qualified specialists with fundamental knowledge of the basic disciplines of hygiene in the practice of a researcher, the formation of in-depth professional knowledge in the field of general hygiene, communal hygiene, occupational health and medicine, occupational diseases, hygiene of children and adolescents, food hygiene, radiation hygiene, rural hygiene , hospital hygiene, military hygiene. Formation of skills and abilities of independent research activities in the field of hygiene.

The normative term of development is 3 years (full-time), 4 years (correspondence).
The complexity of the educational program is 180 credit units.
The types of professional activities for which graduates who have mastered the postgraduate program are preparing:
• research activities in the field of public health protection, aimed at ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, maintaining and improving their health, including overseeing consumer protection;
• teaching activities in educational programs of higher education.
The area of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the postgraduate program includes protecting the health of citizens in terms of ensuring sanitary and epidemiological (preventive) measures aimed at the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, including exercising supervision in the field of consumer protection, performing the functions of a health care organizer in the field sanitary supervision, scientist, teacher.
The objects of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the postgraduate program are:
• population;
• human habitat;
• legal entities, individual entrepreneurs;
• a set of tools and technologies aimed at ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, maintaining and improving their health, including the implementation of supervision in the field of consumer protection;
