Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is a modern higher education centre located in Russia’s westernmost region that borders on Europe. The university offers international applicants more than 120 majors including double degree programmes.

IKBFU has three joint programmes with partner universities in Germany, Poland and France. “International and European Law” was designed jointly with University of Gottingen and University of Marburg. The programme’s mission is to train lawyers for international corporations, well versed in international and European law and capable of drawing documents for international human rights bodies.

Requirements: bachelor's degree in law and English language proficiency certificate at B2 or higher. Length of study: two years. Training venue: students take half of the programme at IKBFU and then go to one of the German partner universities to complete their studies and prepare and defend their master’s degree thesis (in German). Graduates are awarded degrees from the Russian and German universities. Tuition fee: 266,000 rubles a year.

“Economics and Management” is a joint bachelor’s degree programme with Grenoble Alpes University, France. Programme objective: to train specialists in the fields of economics and management capable of quick adapation to the dynamic world market and employer requirements changes. Length of study: four years. Training venue: IKBFU. After two years of studies, students take an online English and French medium programme at the partner university. They also have an opportunity to take a semester-long internship at the French university. The following modules are available: Money and Finance, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Industrial Economics, International Economics etc.

Awards: bachelor’s degree in law, economics and management from IKBFU and Grenoble Alpes University. Tuition fee: 225,000 rubles.

“Functional Nanomaterials and Modern Technologies” is an English medium master’s degree programme launched jointly with Gdansk University of Technology in 2020. The key requirement is good proficiency in English.

Competences: research and development using nanomaterials and biosystems, use of basic biotechnology methods in the career, use of modern principles, concepts and technologies to develop and research nanomaterials in high-tech branches of industry, experimental and theoretical research in the chosen field. Classes are conducted by IKBFU teachers and leading researchers from Poland, German, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Australia and the USA. Best IKBFU students have the opportunity to take an internship and do part of thesis research at R&D centres in Italy, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and other countries.

Length of study: two years. The first year cirriculum is replete with lectures and practice classes. In the second year, master’s students can choose one of the three modules: the first is focused on in-depth study of industrial materials, nanomaterials science, additive technology and design of “smart materials.” The second module addresses biolmedical applications and the third is devoted to optics and photonics. Graduates get a Russian master’s degree diploma and a European Master of Science and Nanotechnology diploma. Tuition fee: 200,000 rubles a year.
