Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is located in Kaliningrad in Russia’s westernmost region. It is a small modern university offering 122 programmes of different education levels to prospective international students.

When can foreign nationals apply?

Applications for degree programmes open on 20 June. Foundation programmes application dates: 1 May - 30 June. You are advised to contact the university for accurate information in advance; create a personal account to forward your question to the university; IKBFU staff will reply to you within ten days.

What documents foreigners have to submit to enrol in undergraduate/graduate programmes?

Following is the list of documents:

  1. Copy of passport.

  2. Notarised translation of passport into Russian.

  3. Copy of education document and the transcript.

  4. Notarised translation of education document and the transcript.

What programmes in English are available at IKBFU?

IKBFU has two English medium masters programmes: Innovative Systems of Business Development (Management) and Functional Nanomaterials and Advanced Technology (Physics). Also, IKBFU has an English-taught specialist degree programme in General Medicine. You can complete a foundation programme at the Preparatory Department to enrol in a Russian medium programme.

Do I have to take an English examination for English-taught programmes?

Applicants have to take a field-specific examination and an English proficiency test. A B1 level certificate, if available, automatically fulfils the language requirement.

Can I take entrance exams online?

Regrettably, the university does not offer this option at present.

How much are tuition fees?

Undergraduate programmes tuition fees for foreign nationals range from 140,000 to 210,000 rubles a year ($2,154 to $3,230), graduate programmes fees from 160,000 to 220,000 rubles a year ($2,462 to $3,385).
