Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI” is a top Russian engineering university. More than 147 degree programmes are available to foreigners.

When can prospective international students apply?

University staff answer applicants’ enquiries all year round. Create a personal account to write to LETI International Office. Application dates for undergraduate, specialist and masters programmes starting this autumn: 20 June - 20 August. PhD programmes application dates: 10 June - 20 August. Foundation programmes application dates: 10 May - 15 September.

What documents do foreign nationals have to submit for undergraduate/graduate studies?

Prospective undergraduate/graduate students have to submit:

  1. Passport and its notarised translation

  2. Previous education certificate (secondary school certificate for undergraduate/graduate studies; bachelor’s degree with the transcript for masters studies) and notarised translation of these documents.

Are there any special features in admissions 2019?

In certain fields, changes have been made to the list of disciplines which require entrance tests. For example, admissions to Physical Methods and Navigation, Control and Measurement Systems are competitive this year with applicants having to take physics, math and Russian language tests. An examination in informatics instead of physics is required for the Information Systems and Technology and Software Engineering programmes. Admission rules provide for both online and onsite entrance examinations.

What programmes in English are available at LETI?

LETI has seven English medium graduate programmes, including Efficient Electric Power Industry launched this year. The postgraduate English-taught programme in the field of Photonics,Instrumentation, Optical and Biotechnical Systems and Technologies is Optical and Optoelectronic Devices and Systems. It was launched in 2018; applications for intake 2019 open for the first time.

Do I have to take an English examination for English medium programmes?

An applicant takes examinations in their field-specific area in English; simultaneously, we test their proficiency in English. An applicant can show a TOEL/IELTS certificate or other documents confirming Intermediate level, or previous education certificate stating that they meet the language proficiency requirement for degree programmes.

Can I take entrance examinations online?

An applicant can take an online preliminary test to check their English proficiency and basic knowledge of the masters programme core subjects, and participate in portfolio and academic degree contest (Grade Point Average + university ranking) to enrol in a masters programme.

How much is tuition?

The tuition fee for all English-taught masters programmes is 198,000 rubles ($3,046), and for English-taught PhD programmes 220,000 rubles ($3,385) a year.
