Siberian Federal University is located in Krasnoyarsk. Established in a merger between five universities in 2006, it offers an impressive range of programmes numbering over 500.

When can prospective international students send their application documents?

Foundation programme applications open in March; classes begin in September. Application dates for undergraduate studies: 20 June - 10 July, 2019; masters studies application dates: 1 July - 3 August; PhD studies application dates: 24 June - 31 July. You can contact university representatives, ask questions and send copies of documents for preliminary review all year round. What documents do foreign nationals have to submit for undergraduate/graduate studies?

To enrol in a degree programme, you have to show previous education documents. If they were issued in a foreign language, they have to be translated into Russian and notarised. To enrol in a Russian taught programme you have to show a TRKI 1/2 proficiency certificate.

What programmes in English are available at the university?

SibFU offers three English medium graduate programmes:

  • Chemistry (Petroleum Chemistry and Refining).

  • Biology (Biological Engineering).

  • Finance and Credit (Banking).

Masters students also have seven optional English-taught semester modules; certificates are issued upon course completion:

  • Complex Geometry (Mathematics).

  • Integral Methods of Complex Analysis (Mathematics).

  • Bioluminescent Biotechnologies (Biology).

  • Modelling of Oil Refining Processes (Chemistry).

  • Technologies of Hydrocarbons Processing (Chemistry).

  • Embedded Microprocessor Systems (Informatics and Computer Technology).

  • Non-Ferrous Metallurgy (Metallurgy).

Do I have to take an English examination for English medium programmes?

An English medium programme applicant has to confirm their language proficiency with certificates like the IELTS, TOEFL etc or a letter from the university from which the candidate graduated.

Can I take entrance examinations online?

This option is possible for English medium graduate programme applicants who have to take a Skype interview. To enrol in Russian-taught degree programmes, applicants have to take entrance examinations at the university during the application period.

How much are tuition fees?

Tuition fees for undergraduate/specialist programmes range between 141,018 and 210,418 rubles ($2,170 to $6,230) a year. Russian-taught masters programmes fees range from 152,214 to 220,782 rubles ($2,342 to $3,396) a year, English-taught masters programmes fees amount to 220,000 rubles ($3,385) a year and English-taught semester modules fees range from 89,000 to 110,000 rubles ($1,369 to $1,692). PhD programmes fees range from 169,918 to 237,900 rubles ($2,614 to $3,660) a year depending on the field of study.
