Foreigners are offered some 20 joint programmes with international higher education centres.
Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, one of the oldest engineering universities in Russia, was founded in 1899. It provides training to more than 32,000 students including 7,500 foreign nationals. SPbPU offers more than 400 programmes of various education levels. Some 20 of them are double degree programmes; graduates are awarded a degree from SPbPU and international university. SPbPU has partners in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Portugal, Finland and other countries.
Undergraduate double degree programmes include “Industrial Management” with Wildau Technical University of Applied Sciences, Germany, “International Business” with Seinajoki University of Applied Sciences, Finland and “Technology of Products and Organization of Catering with South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
Master’s double degree programmes: “Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building” with ParisTech: École des Ponts, Telecom, ENSTA, MINES, IOGS (France), University of Minho (Portugal), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Politecnico di Milano University (Italy); “Electrical Engineering” with Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus (Germany); “International Business Development” with University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (Austria); “Innovative Entrepreneurship with Technical University of Berlin (Germany) etc.
“Intelligent Systems” taught in English is one of the most popular master’s double degree programmes. Launched more than a decade ago, it has always been popular with prospective students. It is not surprising because the programme is focused on a mainstream topic and IT specialists are always in demand. Also, students have the opportunity to study at SPbPU and an international partner university such as Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, City University of London, Great Britain, or Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland.
To be admitted, prospective students have to pass SPbPU entrance examinations. International universities acknowledge the results of these tests. Of the two years of training, the first is spent in Russia, and the second abroad. Tuition fee, 1st year: 305,000 rubles, 2nd year: 301,000 rubles.
The programme was designed by Higher School of Cyber Physical Systems and Control, Institute of Computer Science and Technology. It provides students with competences to design and apply intelligent systems and technologies and data processing and automation systems.
Curriculum: high level synthesis and electronic devices modelling, cognitive multi-agent systems, software development technologies, mathematical modelling and computer simulation, foreign language in field-specific area, research methods etc.
Graduates can design software, use neurotechnologies and modern optimisation and decision-making solutions and develop intelligent systems for various applied areas such as industrial automation in energy and transport.
