Students increasingly prefer European universities for the quality of knowledge and relatively low tuition fees.

Even though the level of training is not worse than in the USA or Canada, study in Europe will be at least twice cheaper. In the Russian Federation State universities the cost starts from EUR 800 per year, in USA from $8,000-10,000.

Universities in Europe in Russia

Traditionally, a lot of young people from Asian countries (56.8% of the total number of applicants from foreign countries) come to study in Russia, about half of them are citizens of China. A large flow of students is also from North Africa and the Middle East (18.5%), from Subsaharan Africa (15.9%).

International students choose Russia for:

  • High level of education;
  • Diversity of technical, humanitarian and business disciplines;
  • The opportunity to study under some programmes in English;
  • Availability of educational scholarships for foreigners;
  • Low tuition fee and considerable cost of living.

Russian Universities

In Russia universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Samara, Vladivostok, Tomsk and other cities, are ready to take international students.

Technical education can be obtained at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). The National Nuclear Research University (MEPhI) is waiting for those who are attracted to nuclear physics. Study under various programmes of Tomsk Polytechnic University is a reasonably priced option for technical education as well.

The National Research Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod offers programmes on economics, international relations, basic informatics and mathematics in English.

Tuition fee for foreign students studying under a contract depends on the university and the programme. Most commonly it is higher in the capital's universities than in the universities of other cities, but it is possible find reasonably priced programmes in the capital’s institutions too.

Approximate price per year:

Under Bachelor's programme – $1,200 to $6,600

Under Specialty – $1,200 to $7,500

Study under Master's programme – $1,400 to $7,800

Postgraduate studies – $1,240 to $4,300.

International students can also enroll at the Preparatory Department at any chosen university. The preparatory programme will include general subjects and intensive study of the Russian language. The cost of the preparatory programme depends on its duration, but on average the cost of training will be $ 2100.
