Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is a well-known Russian engineering university. More than 300 SPbPU programmes of different levels are available to foreign nationals. This article highlights the top five programmes.

Degree programmes

To enter SpbPU, international applicants have to pass entrance examinations. If a foreign national has taken the Unified State Exam (EGE), they have to present the EGE results together with the application documents.

Documents required to apply to SPbPU:

  • Application (can be submitted in a digital format).

  • Copy of passport (the page showing the photo, birthdate, place of birth and passport expiration date).

  • Previous education certificates (translated into Russian or English).

Application dates:

applicants from visa travel countries: 1 February to 1 July 2020,

applicants from visa-free countries: 1 February to 25 August 2020.

 

  1. Russian medium undergraduate programme "Civil Engineering"
  2. The programme delivers such competencies as design, construction and operation of river and maritime works, service buildings and industrial and civil facilities, organisation and economics of construction and investment/construction project management.

    Field of study:

    Equipment and Technology of Construction.

    Entrance examinations:

    Russian language, mathematics.

    Tuition fee:

    210,200 rubles for citizens of CIS and Baltic states,

    219,600 rubles for foreign nationals from other countries.

    Degree:

    Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

  3. Russian medium undergraduate programme "Mechanical Engineering"
  4. Competences: computer-aided design of machinery and mechanisms, methods of mathematical, physical and computer modelling of technological processes.

    Field of study:

    Mechanical Engineering.

    Tuition fee:

    210,200 rubles for citizens of CIS and Baltic states,

    219,600 rubles for foreign nationals from other countries.

    Entrance examinations:

    Russian language, mathematics.

    Degree:

    Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  5. English medium master’s programme "Intelligent Systems"
  6. The programme aims to train skilled specialists in intelligent systems and technologies, data processing systems, automation and intelligent robotics. Competences: information analysis and knowledge in the area of mathematical software development, information data analysis, neurotechnologies and their applications, modern methods of optimization and decision making, development and use of intelligent systems in different application areas such as industrial automation.

    Field of study:

    Informatics and Computer Science.

    Entrance examinations:

    Mathematics, interview in English in the field-specific area.

    Tuition fee:

    244,800 rubles for citizens of CIS and Baltic states,

    305,000 rubles for citizens of other countries.

    Degree:

    Master of Science in Intelligent Systems.

  7. English medium master’s programme "Nuclear Power Engineering"
  8. The programme gives an insight into how nuclear power plants (NPP) work. It has theoretical courses such as Nuclear Reactor Physics and Thermohydraulics, Numerical Methods in Research of Thermophysical Processes, and practical courses which deal with features of design and operation of the main NPP equipment including perspective nuclear reactors design and NPP safety. Graduates can be employed at NPPs and manufacturing companies which supply equipment and provide contracts for NPP.

    Field of study:

    Nuclear Power Engineering and Technology.

    Entrance examinations:

    Mathematics, interview in English in the field-specific area.

    Tuition fee:

    301,400 rubles for citizens of CIS and Baltic states,

    375,400 rubles for citizens of other countries.

    Degree:

    Master’s degree in Nuclear Power Engineering.

  9. English medium summer school "Machine Learning: Theory and Application" (add-on programme)

The international summer school is intended for those who are keen on machine learning applications and development. The course introduces students to the theoretical foundations of machine learning and data science, as well as to the solution of real business problems with the help of computer vision, classification and regression algorithms. Period of study: 20 July - 31 July 2020 Students gain useful knowledge and have a great time staying in St Petersburg.

Entrance examinations:

Participants are not required to pass any examinations.

Minimum English language proficiency requirements: B2 or higher.

Tuition fee:

510 euros, early bird fee (before 6 April 2020),

540 euros, regular fee (after 6 April 2020).

  • Photo;

  • Copy of passport.

Application deadlines:

citizens of visa free travel countries, India, Iran and EU member-states: 22 June 2020.

citizens of other countries: 27 April 2020.
