Lobachevsky University is located in Nizhny Novgorod, a Russian cultural and industrial centre. UNN provides academic education in engineering fields and humanities offering 370 programmes.

When can prospective international students apply?

Online applications to the university are open all year round. Students can submit documents in person starting 20 June. To contact university representatives, create a personal account for free and forward all your questions to UNN.

What documents do foreign nationals have to submit for undergraduate/graduate studies?

Students usually email a copy of foreign travel passport and previous education documents (university degree/secondary school certificate with the transcript) and medical certificate showing negative TB/HIV test results. You do not need a Russian translation of education documents issued in English, French, Spanish, Italian or Serbian. Documents in other languages have to be translated into Russian or English.

When applying in person, students have to submit their foreign travel passport, previous education documents in the original (university degree/secondary education certificate with the transcript), notarised copy of foreign travel passport and education documents translated into Russian, medical insurance, medical certificates (negative HIV test results, 086-U certificate), eight 3 x 4cm photos, migration card. Residents of certain countries have to apostille or legalise their documents.

What programmes in English are available at UNN?

UNN offers three undergraduate programmes: Economics, International relations and Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies and two masters programmes: Management and Social Science (the latter was launched in 2019).

Do I have to take an English examination for English medium programmes?

English medium programme applicants have to take an English examination; Preparatory Department certificates are not recognised.

How much are tuition fees?

125,000 - 205,000 rubles ($1,923 - $3,154) a year.
