  • 5 Steps to Applying

I have been admitted to a Russian university and I’m coming to Russia. How much baggage can I take?

In the first place, check baggage allowance rules with the company you are going to fly with. As a rule, free baggage allowance limit for travellers in economy class is 20 to 25 kilograms. Additional charges apply in case of excess baggage at the rates set by the airline; each extra kilogramme might be quite expensive. Luggage weight rules on trains are usually not as strict. You don’t want to take too much baggage anyway; bring only the essentials. If you have been allotted a dormitory place, it is likely to have all the basic stuff a student needs. Read the article about dormitory conveniences and facilities. You can find here useful tips for international students planning to study at a Russian university.
