13 Universities in Russia Are Named among the Top 100 According to QS BRICS 2015

Russian universities improve their positions in the world rankings.

In 2015, twice more universities have fought for positions in the prestigious QS BRICS ranking: 400 against 200 that participated in 2014. More than 90 universities have represented Russia: of them 53 were in the TOP-200 and 20 – in the TOP-100. Positions were distributed as follows: NSU took the 19th position, TSU took the 44th position, MIPT – 45th, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI – 51th, SPbPU n.a. Peter the Great took 60th position, NRU “Higher School of Economics” – 63rd. It is followed by TPU – 64th position, KFU – 72nd position, UFU – 77th, UNN n.a. N.I. Lobachevsky – 86th, National University of Science and Technology MISiS – 89th, FEFU – 98th. IFMO ends the top-100 universities (99th position), it is in the top-100 for the first time.

Alexander Klimov, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, has commented out the successes of the Russian universities. According to him, any rating is, first and foremost, a tool to improve the quality of national education. In addition, this assessment allows management of the universities to evaluate their potential and select priority directions for further development.
