350 thousand young people took part in the parade.

Russian Student Parade 2016 united thousands of youngsters from 30 cities. The procession was grandiose. At the Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow alone there were over 100,000 students from 184 universities. They strode the alleys of the Victory Park with their university flags.

After that, freshmen in all the cities of the parade simultaneously took their oaths in a solemn matriculation ceremony that was broadcast online. The festive events were crowned with concerts and fireworks.

The first student parade, held in 2002, involved only Moscow students, but it grew since then and became a national event last year. The parade aims to create affiliation, to help students feel they belong to a large and close-knit family.

“I felt proud throughout the event,” says Enbadurai Iyadurai, a Malaysian student at the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. “I hope there will be more events like this. And I will be happy to participate!”

Nguyen Tat Thang, a Medicine student from Vietnam, advises every freshman to visit the parade to be filled with energy, drive and positive emotions.
