Times Higher Education published new world university rankings by subject.
Russian universities offer quality engineering education as the latest survey from a prestigious ranking agency shows. THE experts ranked universities across the world for engineering/technology and computer science subjects. Russian universities were listed in both groups. The first, ranked for mechanical and aerospace engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering, included 28 Russian universities, up 18 from 2017. The Russian league is led by Lomonosov Moscow State University (group 151-175), National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (201-250) and ITMO National Research University (301-400) and also highlights Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National Research Tomsk State University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Samara University, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Novosibirsk State University, Higher School of Economics, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”, Far Eastern Federal University, Lobachevsky University, Siberian Federal University and Ural Federal University.
The group listed for computer sciences comprised the leading higher education centres in such fields as mathematics, informatics, cybersecurity and software engineering and included 16 Russian universities, up 11 from last year. ITMO National Research University advanced five positions from 2018 to place 71st. It is followed by Lomonosov Moscow State University (78th), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (group 101-125) and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (201-250). Higher School of Economics, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Novosibirsk State University, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Samara University, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”, National Research Tomsk State University and Ural Federal University were among the Russian higher education centres which appeared in THE Rankings by computer science for the first time.
