Five Russian Universities in THE Rankings by Subject
Britain’s Times Higher Education presented a new survey of the world’s best universities.In October 2018, THE Rankings by subject listed six Russian higher education centres. In the latest edition, THE ranked universities for Arts and Humanities. The publisher listed 506 universities from across the world, including five from Russia, for excellence in teaching linguistics, history and philosophy, art and design, archaeology and architecture. Lomonosov Moscow State University topped the Russian league table at 66th position, St Petersburg State University was in the 176-200 group, and Higher School of Economics, Tomsk State University and Kazan Federal University were in the 201-250 group.
THE rankings by subject cover 11 broad subject areas; the survey across six other subject areas is yet to be released. To assess universities’ performance, THE uses 13 overall university rankings metrics adapted for the current study.
