MEPhI Vietnamese Students Gain NPP Hands-on Experience
Prospective nuclear power engineers took an internship at the university resource centre.
Students from Russia’s top nuclear research institute MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) solidified their knowledge as they took an internship at the university’s affiliate in the town of Volgodonsk.
The students studied the structure of full-scale NPP equipment and visited nuclear power engineering companies for interaction with specialists in this field. One day was devoted to examining NPP welding facilities.
During the practical course, the students gained more insight into nuclear power engineering and saw local places of interests. University staff arranged a trip for them to Kalmykia’s capital Elista. The Vietnamese students visited the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni, one of the largest Buddhist temples in Europe with a 9-meter high statue of Buddha inside. The students also visited Kalmykia’s Tulip Festival. This flower is regarded as the pride of Kalmyk steppes.
