A programme for gifted students has been launched.

A new school was launched in Xinjiang Uighur Region by Novosibirsk State University and Karamay High School. Pupils of grades 10-12 will cover the curriculum developed by NSU experts.

23 gifted senior schoolchildren were admitted in 2016 to two classes, Physics&Math and Chemistry&Biology. Chinese kids will devote their first year at the school to mastering the Russian language and will focus on their major subjects starting from Year 2.

Classes will be held in Russian. Thus, school graduates will be prepared to apply to Bachelor programmes in Russian universities. They can choose any institution, but many would like to continue their studies at NSU. Following their August visit to Novosibirsk, Akademgorodok and NSU Summer School, they already have an opinion about the university.

The Russo-Chinese school is not the only project of NSU in China. NSU runs two Russian language learning centers, trains Bachelors, Masters and Postgraduates together with Heilongjiang University, and plans to establish a preparatory department in a Chinese university. Students there will be able to study Russian during their Bachelor programmes and then apply to NSU Master courses.
