Students celebrated Turkic New Year with songs and dances.

In March, people in Tatarstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and other countries celebrate the new year in accordance with solar calendar. TPU students from 9 countries have organized festive Nowruz celebrations for the citizens of Tomsk at the International Cultural Center.

Students performed national Caucasian, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Kazakh and even Indian dances. Guests took part in various games traditionally played around the time of Nowruz in different countries. Students from Kazakhstan organized Arkan tartu, or a tug-of-war. Kyrgyz students conducted Ak cholmok challenge where blindfolded participants tried to find as many objects as they could. Celebrations ended with a photo session in a real yurt of Central Asian nomads.
