If you are interested in the Russian language and culture, join the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University international winter school. Classes will run between 14 January and 1 February 2019. Students will be divided into groups to take programmes designed for their Russian proficiency level. The beginners will study the alphabet, read easy texts and learn the basic vocabulary, intermediate students will focus on conversation techniques and everyday Russian, and advanced students will read Russian newspapers and magazines, watch films and discuss economic, political and cultural topics. Sightseeing tours of Tomsk and its suburbs will be arranged for all students. Among the places of interests are the Tomsk History Museum, the Siberian Botanical Garden, The First Musseum of Slavic Mythology and the amusement Park “Extreme.” The programme offers master classes in cooking Russian dishes such as pelmeni (ravioli), blini (pancakes) and ukha (fish soup), as well as discussion clubs, quests and Russian sauna.
To take part in the winter school, download a questionanaire on the TPU website, fill it out in English and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org; university staff will tell you what to do next. Tuition fee for a three-week course is 30,000 rubles ($460). The optional cultural programme costs an extra 6,000 rubles ($92).
