I came from Indonesia, precisely Lombok, the island next to Bali. I study a master's degree program in Laser Measurement Technology. One of the reasons I came in Russia was an opportunity to conduct metrological research. My program is taught in English, so I seldom use the Russian language. I use it only in groceries or restaurants; it is no big deal for me to adapt to life here. But the examination system is really hard for me because a professor gives us 30-40 questions two weeks before the exam in Russia. On the exam day, only 2-4 questions come up. It is really hard because you have already prepared for 40 questions, but only 2 of them come up and we have to defend them to the professor. Sometimes, it is like a game of luck.

ETU "LETI" has many connections with industry. Also, it supports active students at conferences. ETU "LETI" gave me support in three different conferences. The first one was when I presented my work at the Youth Leadership Association in Saint Petersburg. The second one was when I presented my work in Trento near Verona in Italy in 2018. Just three months ago, I got an opportunity to publish a paper in Scopus that I presented in Prague at the SPIE conference. It was very good, and I had full support from the university.

Before coming here, there were many stereotypes about Russia in my head. But now they are gone. Saint Petersburg is a very beautiful historic city. It combines with a modern touch, and I think this makes it perfect. In the beginning, people were with very serious and cold faces. But once you know them, you see that they are very good people. I like to live here. Also, I like food. You have to try ukha and kompot; it is very tasty for me. Generally, I am satisfied and grateful to be part of ETU "LETI.", it has a good curriculum. I live in a dormitory and it is very cheap compared to Jakarta. Also, the university is industrially oriented. Come to study at ETU "LETI" and enjoy Saint Petersburg!
