I plan to undergo my next internship in Russia again
I am a first-year graduate majoring in Electrical Engineering from National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, France. I visited IKBFU in order to undergo an internship at the Laboratory of Optical Radiation, Fabrika hi-tech park at IKBFU. An internship is a mandatory part of my program. Besides, I have always wanted to visit Russia and to feel the famous Russian soul. I talked to my supervisor, and he recommended this university. Duration of the internship was 5 weeks, during which not only I got to help a graduate student to work on Plasma Jet laser equipment, but also attended the Intensive Summer School of the Russian Language. I met many international students there, and we became good friends.
I have heard about Kaliningrad before, but was still a bit caught aback when just arrived. Everything is written in Russian, it was difficult to understand and communicate at first. Nonetheless, I did not have any troubles, I was taken care of and guided in everything, thanks to the University staff. IKBFU provides students with great hostels, I had everything I needed in my room. Kaliningrad is a very beautiful city. Immanuel Kant Island has become, perhaps, the most favorite site in the city. The only pity is few old buildings. I have seen many beautiful old photos, but unfortunately, the buildings pictured are long gone. Nature of Kaliningrad region is beautiful though. My most favorite place in the region is The Curonian Spit with dancing forest, which is a reserved area at the seaside.
I am very interested in the Russian culture. I started to learn Russian in high school. But I did not have the opportunity to practice before coming here. Of course, I also plan to undergo my next internship in Russia, but this time in Krasnoyarsk, since there is also a partner university, and our universities arrange a student exchange as well.
