Walid Khuram, Afghanistan
Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin
My father always told me that Russians are amiable and kind people. And now I have seen it for myself!
My name is Walid Khuram, and I come from Afghanistan. I was born in Moscow, but I remembered very little about Russia, so I always wanted to visit this country. As I have heard from my father, who has travelled a lot. Russians are amiable and kind people. And now I have seen it for myself! I was awarded a scholarship for a Master's Degree by the Russian Government, which I am really grateful for. Currently I am studying Russian and will spend three more years of my life in Yekaterinburg.
Classes are really fun. Different people from around the world have gathered with only one goal - to study this language, which as admitted by many is very difficult. But the language is not the only thing we learn. We get to know more about each other’s countries, cultures, lifestyle, and much more, which is really fascinating. I believe that it’s good for Russian and international students to be under one roof at UrFU.
Ural Federal University is one of the oldest and most recognised universities in the region. I have found UrFU to be a really good place for exchange of ideas. I really recommend this campus to international students who are willing to come to Russia. It has got a really good and friendly academic environment. I have always been welcome in its international students' office, and I could freely talk and explain my problems.
