Master's is a continuation of the bachelor's programme, according to the two-level system 4 + 2 (4 years of bachelor's + 2 years of master's degree). It will allow you to get a more specialized education.

The first requirement is a bachelor's degree from any educational organization in the world or a specialist diploma from a Russian university. Please note that you can graduate from a bachelor's degree in one speciality and then enrol in a master's degree in another. This is a great opportunity to expand your competencies and acquire new qualifications.

The second requirement is an interdisciplinary exam. Some universities in Russia may also ask you to write a motivational essay.

Russian universities offer both classical master's programmes in fundamental and innovative disciplines, which will provide knowledge in the most relevant and interdisciplinary fields. Below you'd find a selection of popular master's programmes.

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University offers over 40 master's programmes to international applicants. In 2010, it received the status of a federal university of the Russian Federation. IKBFU is focused on innovation, but at the same time, observes the traditions of a classical university. It operates a research centre, five scientific and educational centres, a research institute, more than 25 laboratories, a techno park, a business incubator and a design bureau. One of the most popular English-language master's programmes is Functional Nanomaterials. Students study modern experimental and theoretical methods for the creation of nanotechnology and the use of functional nanomaterials. The programme is held in partnership with the Gdańsk University of Technology. This allows students to obtain two degrees at once. IKBFU is distinguished by the high level of educational programmes in law. Master's students can choose from several law programmes, such as Law Enforcement Lawyer or Public Law Lawyer.

The National Research University Higher School of Economics also has a wide variety of programmes. The Data Science programme is quite unique. One of the oldest educational organisations in Russia is the Kazan Federal University, founded in 1804. It offers to international applicants over 700 basic educational programmes from chemistry to linguistics, among them 250+ master's degrees. The English-language Oil and Gas Business is one of the most popular. Students learn to identify locations for oil and gas wells, monitor their productivity, plan an optimal programme for the development and operation, taking into account the potential volumes of oil and gas production. The National University of Science and Technology MISIS is known for training highly qualified engineers in the field of metallurgy and mining. NUST MISIS master's programmes are among the most in-demand in Russia and the world. For example, the English-taught Solar Energy.
