The uniqueness of the program lies in the combination of fundamental philological education in the area of literary studies, linguistics and translation studies. In the learning process, students study a wide range of subjects related to various areas of applied philology: computer and mathematical linguistics, corpus linguistics, experimental linguistics, etc

Description of the educational process

The basic part of these programs consists of such disciplines as foreign language, history, philosophy, introduction to communication theory, introduction to literary criticism, introduction to linguistics, the basics of philology.

Starting from the third year, variable disciplines appear depending on the profile of training:

applied and experimental phonetics,

linguistic resources of the Internet, discussion issues of Russian language morphology, sociolinguistics, philological analysis of the text, theory and practice of simultaneous translation, poetry of Great Britain, poetry of the USA, etc.

The educational process is carried out by the academic staff, who conduct active research activities in the area of the Russian language, foreign languages, Russian and foreign literature. Students are given the opportunity to study on exchange programs and undergo internships in leading universities in Germany, Spain, and the United States according to the relevant signed agreements.

The Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication has a material and technical base that ensures the conduct of all disciplinary and interdisciplinary training, practical and research work of students, provided for by the curriculum in the training direction.
From the second year, it is compulsory for everyone to write research term papers, and in the fourth year - the final qualifying work.

Skills that students acquire after completing the educational program

A graduate who has finished the bachelor's program is ready to demonstrate an understanding of the history, current state and prospects for the development of philology in general and its specific (profile) area, knowledge of the main provisions and concepts in the area of general linguistics, theory and history of the main studied language, communication theory;

possesses the skills of preparing scientific reviews, annotations, compiling abstracts and bibliographies on the topic of ongoing research, techniques of bibliographic description, skills of participating in scientific discussions, presentations and reports,

oral, written and virtual (placement in information networks) presentation of materials of their own research; is able to demonstrate possession of basic skills in finalizing and processing various types of texts, skills in translating various types of texts.

This program provides for purposeful work on the final qualifying work in the language, which, in particular, provides a comprehensive preparation for professional translation activities

Graduates can successfully find employment as translators in educational, cultural and administrative institutions; employees in travel agencies, literary and literary-art museums; media editors and proofreaders; representatives in embassies and diplomatic missions. Graduates can work as teachers in schools and colleges, editors, proofreaders in publishing houses, the media, experts in the centers of linguistic expertise, perform the duties of a press secretary, assistant, administrator in government agencies and private companies, take part in the compilation of language guides.
