The programme includes profound natural science training in mineralogy, petrology, lithology, geology and geochemistry of minerals. Such specialists are qualified in geology, conditions of minerals generation and patterns of mineral deposits distribution.

Programme contents

The main subjects of the programme are: «Genetic mineralogy», «Structure analysis of crystallized complexes», «Magmatic formations», «Sedimentary facies and formations», «Lithologic and facial analysis», «Structures of orefields and deposits», «Forecast, search and scouting for mineral deposits». Teachers of the Department of Petrography and the Department of Mineralogy and Geochemistry.

Our master's degree students participate in projects of research labs for structural petrology, minerageny, and experimental and applied mineralogy. We use high-quality equipment of the "Analytical centre for geochemistry of natural systems" shared knowledge centre at the premises of our Faculty. This machinery allows us to perform multi-level research: a complex of raster electron microscopy and X-ray spectroscopic analysis of the structure and material composition of natural objects.

Admissions

Admission is competitive, students with Bachelor’s degrees or higher are eligible. The admission tests are an exam in Geology and an interview.
