The students of this program study humanities and social and economic sciences such as history, philosophy, foreign languages, economics, management and marketing. Courses on natural sciences include ecology, hydrology, hydrobiology, the basics of veterinary science, genetics and other courses. Special disciplines taught in the framework of the program are as ichthyology, artificial reproduction of fish, fish rearing for sale, genetics and fish breeding, fishery legislation, ichthyopathology, fish histology and embryology. All these courses help to develop the knowledge and skills that are needed in the profession.
In four years the students learn the main regularities of aquatic ecosystems, economic and law activity on water bodies, evaluation of water bodies, specifics of fishing and ecology of the main species in fish-breeding and fishing industry, the basics of artificial reproduction and commercial farming of aquatic organisms, the basics of designing fish factories and fish farms etc.
