The purpose of the educational program is to acquire the necessary level of competence for professional activity and prepare for the defense of a scientific qualification work (dissertation) for the degree of candidate of Sciences.

To achieve this goal, the educational program provides an opportunity for graduate students to present their research results at Russian and international scientific conferences; master the main genres of scientific texts; take part in individual and collective grant competitions; and acquire teaching skills in higher education institutions.

Graduates of the program get the opportunity to solve professional tasks in higher education institutions, professional academic institutes and other research institutes; archives, museums; other organizations and cultural institutions; in expert and analytical centers, public and state organizations of information and analytical profile.

The objects of professional activity of graduates who have completed the postgraduate program are: historical processes and phenomena in their socio-cultural, political, and economic dimensions and their reflection in historical sources. The specifics of this program is that the center of study is a set of archaeological sources, represented in all the variety of objects of material and spiritual culture of the past, archaeological cultures and cultural and historical communities, as well as the history of archeology, theory and methodology of archaeological research.

Graduates who have completed the postgraduate program are prepared for research activities in the field of history and related social Sciences and Humanities; teaching activities in the field of historical Sciences.

A graduate who has mastered the OP acquires the ability to use knowledge of archaeology and ancient history to reconstruct socio-economic and cultural processes in various regions of the world; the ability to carry out teaching activities in the field of archaeology; the ability to apply modern research methods and techniques in archaeology; to master the modern scientific paradigm in the field of archaeology and be able to update the results of their own research.

The specificity of the OP is that graduate students work mainly with real historical sources. The peculiarity of the archaeological approach to the study of the past in comparison with other historical disciplines is the reliance mainly on the material remains of human activity, found in the buried or open form. The study of these sources involves the use of proper archaeological research methods, as well as the broad use of methods of other disciplines, including natural Sciences, for paleohistorical reconstructions.

The program is designed to develop professional competencies that allow students to carry out independent research using modern methods and interdisciplinary approaches; it aims graduate students to study the archaeology of the Asia-Pacific region and the Pacific ocean basin as a whole, which reflects the regional specifics and main contacts of FEFU.

This approach aims to increase the demand for specialists in this field in the modern labor market. Graduate students with the qualification " Researcher. Teacher-researcher" have the opportunity to use his professional skills not only in higher education institutions, academic research institutes, museums and cultural centers, but also as members of the expert-analytical centers, including ensuring compliance with legislation on the preservation of historical and cultural heritage.
