With the development of new approaches to treatment and disease prevention,the most important breakthroughs and challenges of our times are associated with medicine. Therefore, here, at Lobachevsky University, we try to look at ourselves and at medicine in a totally new way. A healthy future requires a generation of doctors with a new way of thinking and a new attitude to the patient.
In the first year of this program you will take several important basic courses such as history of medicine, bioethics, health, wellness and safety, normal anatomy – all with a test as form of control. You will also take the biology, general and analytical chemistry courses with the descent number of hours intended for laboratory works and an exam as form of control. In the second semester you will have to take two practice courses - practice in obtaining primary professional skills, including primary research skills and clinical practice as an assistant to nursing staff.
In the second year among the continuing basic disciplines there are cytology, normal physiology and organic chemistry courses in the third semester. They are followed by the histology and genetics disciplines in the fourth semester. Some of these disciplines have an exam as form of control and some are non-examinable. You can also take an elective nursing course in the third semester and will have to practice in obtaining professional skills and professional experience as an assistant to a ward and procedural nurse in the fourth.
The third year of the program expands the range of basic disciplines with general biochemistry, pathophysiology, pathological anatomy, clinical laboratory diagnosis, microbiology, virology, immunology, general surgery and others. You can choose an elective course of functional diagnostics in the clinic of internal diseases in the fifth semester. In the sixth semester you will also take clinical practice as an assistant to an emergency medical aid assistant.
The fourth year of the program introduces you more directly to your specialty with the disciplines like otolaryngology, ophthalmology, faculty therapy and occupational diseases, neurology, faculty surgery, obstetrics and gynecology. In the eighth semester you will be able to choose elective courses of allergology, geriatrics, cardiovascular prophylaxis and neurodegenerative diseases. You will also take clinical practice as an assistant to a doctor at a hospital - surgeon, general practitioner, obstetrician-gynecologist.
The fifth year continues the deeper specialty introduction. You will take psychiatry and medical psychology, traumatology and orthopedics, urology in the ninth semester. They are followed by hospital therapy, hospital surgery, pediatric surgery, pediatrics and some other disciplines in the A semester. There is also a descent amount of elective disciplines for you to choose, such as assisted reproductive technologies, teratology and medical genetics, regenerative medicine and basics of sports medicine. And in the A semester you will have to take a clinical practice as an assistant to a doctor at an outpatient clinic and do a research work.
In the sixth and final year of this program you will take some in-depth study disciplines: epidemiology, clinical pharmacology, clinical forensic medicine, dentistry and maxillofacial surgery and other. This year you have a pretty long list of elective disciplines too, for example, oncology, radiation therapy, disaster medicine, medical rehabilitation and other. And at the end of your education program you will have to take the state examination - final interdisciplinary examination in the specialty.
