In modern dentistry much attention is given to aesthetics. With the use of modern teaching methods and simulation technology, students will acquire the necessary manual skills and master their future profession at the highest level. The development of high-tech diagnostic methods requires modern doctors to keep up with the times and to constantly improve their knowledge and skills.

Dentistry requires a combination of dental and general medical clinical thinking together with well-developed manual skills. To achieve this goal, we have created all the conditions for successful practical training of students at clinics, where at their disposal they have all the necessary equipment for developing practical skills under the supervision of highly qualified experts. After graduating from Lobachevsky University, young doctors will be ready to apply their knowledge for treating patients.

In the first year of this program you will take several important basic courses such as bioethics, health, wellness and safety, basics of medical organizations' operations – all with a test as form of control. You will also take the biology, general chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, chemistry of dental materials courses with an exam as form of control. In the second semester you will have to take two practice courses - practice in obtaining primary professional skills, including primary research skills and clinical practice.

In the second year among the continuing basic disciplines there are cytology, normal anatomy, head and neck anatomy, materials science in dentistry in the third semester. They are followed by the histology, genetics and normal physiology, maxillofacial physiology disciplines in the fourth semester. Some of these disciplines have an exam as form of control and some are non-examinable. You can also take an elective basics of modeling for teeth restoration course in the third semester or research methods in dentistry course in the fourth. You will also have to practice in obtaining professional skills and professional experience (obtaining skills of patient care and fulfilling doctors' prescriptions) and practice in obtaining professional skills and professional experience as an assistant dentist.

The third year of the program expands the range of basic disciplines with microbiology, microbiology of the oral cavity, virology, immunology, clinical immunology, dental prosthetics (simple prosthetics), prevention of dental diseases, cariesology and diseases of hard dental tissue, endodontics, prosthetics with total absence of teeth and others. You can choose some elective courses such as anesthesia in dentistry or medical emergencies in the fifth semester. In the sixth semester you will also take clinical practice as an assistant dentist (one – as a therapist, another one – as an orthopedist).

The fourth year of the program introduces you more directly to your specialty with the disciplines like periodontics, oral surgery, prosthetics of tooth rows (complex prosthetics), head and neck diseases, children's dentistry, neurology and psychiatry, infectious diseases and medical rehabilitation. In the eighth semester you will also take clinical practice as an assistant pediatric dentist and do a research work.

In the fifth and final year of this program you will take some in-depth study disciplines: pediatric maxillofacial surgery, maxillofacial and orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial prosthetics, orthodontics and children's prosthetics and other. This year you have a pretty long list of elective disciplines too, for example, aesthetics in dentistry, minimally invasive technologies in dentistry, diseases of the temporomandibular join, peculiarities of repeated tooth restoration and other. And at the end of your education program you will have to take the state examination - final interdisciplinary examination in the specialty.
