  • Philology (Theory and Practice of English)

    Students receive the fundamental knowledge and professional skills in the area of modern interlingual and intercultural communication.

    In the academic process, active and interactive lesson forms are widely used (dialog-type seminars, discussions, computer simulations, business and role-playing games, case studies, psychological training, group discussions, student research group reports, university and inter-university teleconferences), as well as expert master classes and practical lessons, teaching of classes in author course form. Leading researchers and professors from Russian and international universities are invited annually to read lectures, lead practical lessons, and supervise masters’ research activities.

    A translator can perform the duties of a legal assistant (business correspondence, preparation of analytical surveys and reports, participation in negotiations.) Graduates of this master’s program qualify for a wide range of vacancies besides pure translation, for example those which require solid knowledge of two foreign languages, a wide general cultural perspective, and skills in the area of intercultural communications.

    Graduates can perform research and teaching activities in educational institutions (primarily in universities) and also realize themselves in the fields of artistic and special translation, editorial work, project work in cultural institutions, consultation work in linguistic and national politics and inter-ethnic relationships in administrative offices.

  • Philology (Russian Language in Business Communications)

    This programme is designed for foreign citizens who plan to use the Russian language in their future professional activities. The field of professional activity of the graduates of this programme includes: philology and humanitarian knowledge, interpersonal, intercultural and mass communication in oral, written and virtual form, business communication. The specialists work with languages in their theoretical and practical aspects; business communication and business etiquette; various types of texts; verbal, written, and virtual communication.
  • Philology (Russian as a Foreign Language)

    The program aims at training highly qualified and competitive specialists in philology, teaching Russian as a foreign language, and scientific research activities.

    Holders of the master’s degree can work in the professional field of Russian as a foreign language, language system and methods of teaching Russian, creation of tests in Russian as a foreign language, and fundamentals of scientific research.

    This is a practically oriented course. All master’s students are engaged in research projects, participate in conferences, and write research papers. They also have teaching practice, which allows them to prepare and teach lessons in groups of foreign students with different levels of Russian. This program covers important professional subjects on the methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, on the modern Russian language, on the fundamentals of test theory and practice of testing, on linguistic culturology, and ethnopsycholinguistics, etc.

    Graduates of this program are in-demand professionals in various fields due to their high level of training in teaching Russian as a foreign language, skills of scientific work and its presentation. Masters of philology can always find a congenial employment: in education (teacher of Russian as a foreign language) and science (linguist researcher), in the field of intercultural communications, in large government institutions and business corporations with big document flow, in the editorial board of publishing houses and media, in communication media (press secretary), and in business (guide, translator or interpreter).

    Education in the field of Philology includes: obtaining a fundamental classical philological education based on the Russian language.
