- geotechnology of subsoil development, equipment and technical systems;

- methods and systems for designing hydrocarbon transport and storage systems;
- software tools for studying, modeling the processes of production, transportation and storage of hydrocarbons, design of equipment and technical systems, processing and analysis of research results.

- research activities in the field of oil and gas business, substantiation of directions for its safe and efficient industrial implementation, design of equipment and creation of technologies for the production, transportation and storage of hydrocarbons, construction of engineering structures, development of a set of measures to protect subsoil and the environment.

The need for highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel in this specialty is high. In 5 universities of the Far Eastern region, training programs are being implemented in the direction of the bachelor's degree 03/21/01 Oil and gas business, while the training of masters in this direction is carried out only at FEFU, but there is no specialized postgraduate study in the Far East. The need for graduates of specialized postgraduate studies, trained to conduct scientific and pedagogical activities, is at least 20 people.
The oil and gas industry in the Far East, represented by large subdivisions of leading industry companies: PJSC AK Transneft, PJSC Gazprom, PJSC Rosneft, is experiencing a shortage of highly qualified local personnel trained taking into account the understanding of regional requirements and conditions for the construction and operation of facilities, able to carry out research at sites, to optimize technological schemes in accordance with the regional realities of production.
When solving problems in the oil and gas complex, one should take into account the current situation in the industry. The oil and gas complex of the Far East is just being formed, which requires taking into account not only regional characteristics, but also the involvement of modern technologies and the level of science and technology in this area of knowledge.
Oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities are being created in difficult mining, geological and climatic conditions, which requires research on the development and implementation of new technologies, both during construction and operation. Large energy costs in the transportation of oil and gas require research on energy conservation and optimization of energy supply to facilities. The ongoing gasification of the Far East poses new tasks for the use of liquefied natural gas, which requires research taking into account the regional specifics associated with a vast territory, small population, and severe climatic conditions.
