The purpose of the postgraduate study program (SP) 01.06.01 "Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Cybernetics (DMMK)" is to acquire the necessary level of competence and preparation for the defense of a thesis for the degree of candidate of sciences.

       A graduate who has mastered the SP of the postgraduate study of DMMK is prepared for the independent formulation and solution of complex theoretical and applied problems in the field of applied mathematics, mathematical cybernetics, the theory of extreme and equilibrium problems on networks and graphs, and other natural sciences and subject areas. In particular, the graduate is able to set and solve problems in objects of various nature, as well as in analytical, social and economic networks.

The tasks of the EP DMMK are to study objects, phenomena and processes of goal-setting, forecasting, planning and programming socio-economic development from the point of view of mathematical models and methods of discrete mathematics and mathematical cybernetics for all types of economic agents (government structures, business structures and production and services, households).

The area of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the SP of postgraduate study at DMMK includes the entire set of objects, phenomena and processes of the real and virtual world:

- manufacturing and service sectors, science-intensive high-tech industries, including mechanical engineering and instrument making, shipbuilding, bioeconomics and biotechnology, internet commerce, transport and communications, fisheries, energy, finance;

- research institutes and analytical centers of different directions and profiles, universities, academies, investment agencies, territorial development agencies, human capital development agencies, funds, insurance and management companies, financial organizations and consulting business structures, etc.

The original disciplines studied in the SP include: "Additional chapters of discrete and integer optimization", “Social networks and their mathematical models", "Economic networks", "Analytical networks", "Graph models and their application in strategic planning", "Graph models and their application in the regional and urban economy", "Combinatorial optimization", "Extreme and equilibrium problems on networks and graphs", etc.

Such content of the SP provides the necessary professional competencies of the candidate of sciences and the requirements of the modern labor market:

- the ability to carry out professional functions in the framework of goal-setting, forecasting, planning and programming the socio-economic development of various objects and phenomena of the real and virtual world;

- research, knowledge and ability to form models of strategies for the growth of networks and models of distribution of flows, objects, equilibrium and extreme problems on networks and graphs in economic, financial, social and analytical networks, methods of substantiating the adequacy of the models used;

- knowledge, ability to research, develop, design and implement algorithms for solving equilibrium and extreme problems on networks and graphs and problems of detecting various phenomena, in particular, "small worlds" in economic, financial, social and information networks using modern software systems, to evaluate operability and efficiency of algorithms.

      Among the outstanding leaders of the SP "Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Cybernetics": Russian scientists and practitioners, academicians V.A. Trapeznikov, I.M. Makarov, N.N. Moiseev, A.A. Dorodnitsyn, S.Yu. Glazyev, and world renowned foreign researchers: T.L.Saaty, M.E.J. Newman, M.O. Jackson, D.J. Watts, etc.

     The modern SP "Discrete Mathematics and Mathematical Cybernetics" was formed in close cooperation with employers, such as: Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Control Problems, Council for Strategic Development under the President of the Russian Federation; Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic; The structures of the executive and legislative power of the regions of the Far East, Primorsky Krai, the executive and legislative power of cities and municipal districts of the Far Eastern Federal District.

      Graduates of SP DMMK (Candidates of Science) will be able to work as professors at universities, researchers at research institutes or expert analysts in state and municipal administration; in large and medium-sized businesses, etc.
