14.05.02 Radiation Safety of Nuclear Power Plants

Program objective
To train qualified researchers in the field of nuclear and radiation safety for nuclear power plants, production companies and institutions of the nuclear industry and related fields. Students learn how to calculate the accumulation of radionuclides into the reactor core and handle safely used nuclear fuel and radioactive nuclear wastes. After graduation, alumni will be able to put their knowledge into practice solving the following issues on NPP decommissioning:

•interaction of radiation with matter and propagation of ionizing radiation through matter;
•risk assessment and applied methods of decision-making theory;
•new dosimetry development
•dosimetry detection and spectrometric equipment development
•radiation shielding design and calculation.
