Program purposes
Main objective of training is formation of profound theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of the theory, methodology and history of sociology, social structure, social institutes and processes, economic sociology and demography, sociology of control, sociology of culture, spiritual life, political sociology; and skills of teaching activities for educational programs of higher education.
Field of professional activity
The field of professional activity includes research and development activities in the following areas: theory, methodology and history of sociology; social structure, social institutes and processes; economic sociology and demography; control sociology; sociology of culture, spiritual life; political sociology.
Objects of professional activity
Objects of professional activity are: theories opening entity of social processes and relations at different levels of social organization, public phenomena, regularities of social development, mechanisms of social changes in universal space in Russian society and in regional social spaces, transition eras, countries, regions, social communities, spheres of public life, social systems; real social phenomena, communications, institutes and processes in global, regional and other social and economic, socio-political and welfare systems, social processes and structures on macro - and microlevels, social communities and social relations in these communities and in between, their reflection in public consciousness and also results and methods of impact on social communities and social relations; processes of social scientific research including methodology, methods and instruments of carrying out scientific research, techniques of analysis and systematization of information, development of models of researched processes, phenomena and objects of professional activity, mechanisms of prediction, design and optimization of social indices, processes and the relations, development of methodology and work benches for the sociological analysis according to conditions, purposes and tasks.
Features of the curriculum
The curriculum includes mastering of modern theoretical questions, practical training, doing of laboratory practical works on modern and unique equipment, conducting research in the form of classroom occupations and in the form of independent work. The central place in training of graduate students is research and preparation and defense of thesis, preparation of PhD thesis under the leadership of outstanding scientists participating in research projects in relevant areas of basic and applied researches, that allows to create at graduate students ability to work in research team, to generate new ideas and also to show skill of independent research. In the course of research graduate students acquire skills of search and analysis of scientific and technical information, learn current problems of development of science and technology, acquire skills of setting research problems, representation, approbation and protection of results of researches. Special attention is paid to training of compilation of reviews, reports and preparation of publications, implementations of results of researches.
