Initially, the university had technical specifics and trained oil and gas specialists. Today, the university offers 93 higher education programs. The special emphasis is on technical specialties - oil and gas business, construction, power engineering, technological machines and equipment. A significant place is also taken by the direction of information technologies. Personnel in the field of entrepreneurship are also being trained.
The orientation of the university development is technological and scientific center. The University has 6 scientific laboratories in the field of subsoil use, construction, pulse technologies and composites. The university is one of the participants of the scientific program "Advanced Engineering Schools".
The university regularly hosts cultural and social events, and every Thursday we have live music performed by students!

PISH ROSGEOTECH
The advanced engineering school "RosGeoTech" was established on the basis of GGNTU Millionshchikov together with the State University of Management.
The School's activities cover the development of alternative energy, power engineering, oil and gas business and are aimed at creating engineers
Highpark GGNTU
The basis of innovation cluster of SSTU is Highpark, which was created to support innovative entrepreneurship by forming material and technical, socio-cultural, service, financial and other base for preparation for independent activity of innovative enterprises.
Institutions
The educational structure of the university is formed by 6 institutes: ING (oil and gas), ICEITP (digital economy and technological entrepreneurship), IE (energy), ISAiD (construction, architecture and design), IPIT (applied informatics), training of higher qualification personnel.
