Experts named the best young universities of the world.

Young University Rankings assessed universities under 50 years old from different countries. This year, Times Higher Education listed 351 universities; Russia is represented by two higher education centres. Higher School of Economics took 60th position, rising 24 places from last year. The university was established in 1992 and initially specialised in economics. Over 27 years of its existence, HSE has turned into a multi-disciplinary university providing training in nearly any field such as political science, social science, mathematics, computer science, physics, design, chemistry and biology. Siberian Federal University was placed 301st in its first ever appearance in Young Universities Rankings. SibFU was founded in 2006. It brought together five Krasnoyarsk-based universities offering an impressive choice of over 500 programmes.

To assess universities, THE experts used 13 performance indicators across five areas: learning environment (30 percent), research (30 percent), citations (30 percent), international outlook (7.5 percent) and industry income (2.5 percent).
