Each profile has two tracks: for master's students and postgraduate students. Participants can choose several profiles and one or both tracks. All tests are conducted online in Russian or English. The competition is held in two stages for masters and in three stages for postgraduates.
At the first stage, participants present their achievements and a motivation letter, and also take an entrance test for the selected profile. At the second stage, they complete tasks in proctoring mode: the process is recorded via a webcam and allows you to monitor compliance with the Olympiad rules. The postgraduate track at the third stage provides for an online meeting of participants with representatives of the organizing universities.
Winners and prize-winners can choose educational programs of Russian universities for training that correspond to the profile and track of the Olympiad.
The Open Doors Olympiad is organized by the Global Universities Association with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and Rossotrudnichestvo. It is held as part of the national project "Science and Universities".
The competition has been held since 2017. Over the course of six years, more than 300,000 young people from 197 countries took part, and about 4,000 people received the right to study at the best Russian universities. In the 2022 Olympiad, more than 1,700 citizens from 81 countries became winners and prize-winners, including 289 people in the postgraduate track.
