About the University
Magnitogorsk State Technical University named after G.I. Nosov (MGTU named after G.I. Nosov) is one of the oldest universities in the Southern Urals, celebrating its 90th anniversary next year. Many achievements and awards speak to the quality of the educational services it provides and the scientific developments it carries out. The university was awarded a state award – the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the gratitude of the President of the Russian Federation. The university, established in 1934 as a center for training engineering personnel for the mining and metallurgical industry, has gone from a mining and metallurgical institute – the Mining and Metallurgical Academy – to one of the leading universities of the Southern Urals. In 2010, the university was reorganized by joining four Magnitogorsk universities
