About the University
Volgograd State Medical University (VolgSMU) is one of the oldest universities in Southern Russia. It was established in 1935 as the Stalingrad Medical Institute. Since 2003 - in the status of a medical university. Today, Volga State Medical University is one of the largest among medical and pharmaceutical universities in Russia in terms of the number of students of various levels. Currently, more than 1000 educational programs at all levels are being implemented at VolgGMU. VolgGMU has wide international recognition – more than 5000 of its graduates work in 127 countries around the world. Having gone from a provincial medical institute to a world-renowned university, strengthening the foundation with rich, including military, experience and promising innovations, carefully preserving historical roots and established glorious traditions, transmitting them from generation to generation, day by day the university trains highly qualified specialists of the 21st century.

The dormitories of Volga State Medical University are designed for the accommodation of out-of-town and foreign students. Each dormitory is equipped with the necessary furniture, kitchens, and sanitary facilities, and is equipped with internet access and a security system.
Laboratories and equipment
