About the University
FGBOU VO SSMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia was founded in 1920. In 2025, the University celebrated its 105th anniversary, confirming its loyalty to traditions and aspiration for further progress. SSMU is a center of medical and pharmaceutical science. The university is included in international and Russian rankings of higher educational institutions ("Round University Ranking", "UniRank", "Ranking Web of Universities" and others). About 6,170 students from Russia and countries of the near and far abroad receive higher education at the university. In 2025, the number of foreign students was 2,575 from 10 foreign countries, with an annual enrollment of at least 500 foreign students. The university cooperates with medical institutions of Smolensk, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kaliningrad, Oryol, Pskov regions and Moscow region.
