About organization
St Petersburg University is the first university in Russia and one of the largest scientific and educational centers in Europe and the world. It was founded in 1724, when Peter the Great issued a decree establishing the University and the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2024, St. Petersburg University celebrated its 300th anniversary. Today, the University is a scientific and educational center of global importance and holds high positions in international rankings. More than 25,000 students from dozens of countries study here, breakthrough research projects are launched and discoveries are made.

Laboratories and centers
St Petersburg University currently has more than 50 research centers, institutes, and laboratories. More than a dozen and a half were created as part of the implementation of the Russian Government's Megagrant Program and its own large competitive programs.
Dormitories
Nonresident and international students can stay in St. Petersburg State University dormitories. The complex is considered to be the largest in the city (13,000 seats). The University dormitories have recreation rooms, laundries, cafes, shops, gyms and playgrounds, and Wi-Fi is available.
Library named after Gorky
The Scientific Library of St. Petersburg University is a monument of national enlightenment, science and culture, one of the oldest and largest libraries in Russia. In terms of wealth and diversity of funds, it ranks among the most famous university book depositories in the world.
Science Park
The St Petersburg University Science Park includes 22 resource centers, the cost of which is more than 7.5 billion rubles. The total area of the Science Park is more than 30 thousand square meters. Its accessibility is also ensured by a staff of more than 250 highly qualified specialists.
