
St. Petersburg State University
SPbSU was and remains a classical university that combines traditions with innovations. We combine a careful attitude towards scientific heritage with constant forward movement, support scientific schools, and expand the horizons of knowledge. Among the university students are two Russian presidents, nine Nobel Prize laureates, two Fields Prize laureates, and many other outstanding graduates. Today, we are a national university that has its own development program approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
About the organization
Saint Petersburg State University is the first university in Russia and one of the largest scientific and educational centers in Europe and the world. It was founded in 1724 when Peter I issued a decree establishing the University and the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2024, Saint Petersburg University celebrated its 300th anniversary. Today, the University is a scientific and educational center of global significance and occupies high positions in international rankings. More than 25,000 students from dozens of countries study here, breakthrough research projects are launched, and discoveries are made.

Laboratories and centers
Today, more than 50 scientific centers, institutes, and laboratories operate at St. Petersburg University. More than a dozen and a half were created as part of the implementation of the Government of Russia's Megagrant Program and its own large competitive programs.
dormitories
Out-of-town and foreign students can stay in the dormitories of St. Petersburg State University. The complex is rightfully considered the largest in the city (13,000 beds). The University's dormitories have relaxation rooms, laundries, cafes, shops, sports halls, and playgrounds, and Wi-Fi is available.
Gorky Library
The Scientific Library of St. Petersburg University is a monument of domestic enlightenment, science, and culture, one of the oldest and largest libraries in Russia. In terms of the richness and diversity of its collections, it is on par with the most famous university book repositories in the world.
Science Park
The Scientific Park of St. Petersburg State University includes 22 resource centers, the cost of equipment for which exceeds 7.5 billion rubles. The total area of the Scientific Park is more than 30,000 square meters. Its accessibility is ensured by a staff of more than 250 highly qualified specialists.
