About the university
MIPT was founded in 1946 by Nobel laureates Pyotr Kapitsa, Lev Landau, and Nikolay Semenov to train the country’s research and engineering elite; and from its first years, the Institute was involved in the top priority state initiatives: the space and nuclear programs.
Over more than 75 years of history, the MIPT alumni included dozens of academicians, outstanding scientists, and inventors.
One of the key factors determining the level of training of graduates is the Phystech System proposed by Petr Kapitsa, which is comprised of the following principles:
1. Careful selection of the most gifted and creatively inclined young people;
2. Involvement of leading researchers in training;
3. Individual work with each student as part of their training at specialized institutes, with each student required to participate in research work starting from their second or third year;
4. Each student should be proficient in modern techniques of theoretical and experimental research upon graduation.

Academic Buildings
The campus in Dolgoprudny includes 9 academic buildings. Some of them have reading rooms for independent work, where you can study even at night. Some of the buildings are named after MIPT scientific areas, for example, Phystech.BIO, Phystech.Digital, Phystech.Quantum, and Phystech.Arctic.
Healthcare
The MIPT outpatient clinic offers consultations with doctors and specialists: therapists, surgeons, gynecologists, neurologists, and dentists; it also features medical treatment and electrocardiography rooms.

Dormitory
All international students are provided with a dormitory. Each floor has fully equipped kitchens, around-the-clock reading rooms, high-speed Internet, and clubs for student activities. Master’s and postgraduate students live in Moscow, where most of the specialized departments are located.
