The Rector
The strategic goal of the development of BGMU is the transformation of the university into an international research university producing new medical knowledge, technologies, and biomedical products. In the development program, we focus primarily on the development of fundamental science and the popularization of scientific and medical knowledge among Russian and foreign youth, which, among other things, allows us not only to maintain but also to improve high positions in international rankings.
About the University
FGBOU VO BGMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia was founded in 1932. BGMU is the center of medical and pharmaceutical science of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The university is included in international and Russian rankings of higher educational institutions ("Round University Ranking", "UniRank", "Ranking Web of Universities" and others). About 15 thousand students from Russia and countries of the near and far abroad receive higher education at the university. In 2024, the number of students from among foreign citizens was more than 5000 people from 64 countries, the annual enrollment of foreign students was no less than 550 people. The university has its own clinic with 755 beds. The clinic is a center for specialized care: 25,000 patients are hospitalized annually, and 11,000 surgical interventions are performed. Since 2018, the first Robotic Surgery Center in the Volga region has been operating at the BSMU Clinic, where more than 200 operations have been performed to date.

The university has excellent laboratories for conducting scientific research in advanced areas of biomedical research. At BSMU, the Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology, the Institute of Fundamental Medicine, and new laboratories in the World-Class Campus of the Eurasian NOC have been opened.
