About the training program
The main bachelor’s degree programme “Arabic Philology (with the additional qualification ‘Translation Specialist’)” develops professional and universal competencies and provides a comprehensive understanding of the linguistic, cultural, political and economic, social, ethnic, confessional, literary and other characteristics of the countries of the Arab world, alongside an in-depth study of Classical and Modern Literary Arabic, as well as one of its contemporary dialects.
What do graduates do?
Years of experience in teaching Eastern languages are combined with the latest educational methods and technologies. Students have access to unique electronic resources in Russian, Eastern and Western languages, as well as the specialized branch of the M. Gorky Scientific Library, whose collection includes more than 300,000 volumes of scholarly, educational, literary and periodical publications in all the languages of the regions studied, a collection of ancient manuscripts and woodblock prints, and rare and unique books and lithographs.
After completing their studies, students have the opportunity to continue their education in a master's degree programme at the Faculty of Oriental Studies or at other Russian or foreign universities.
