About the training program

The main educational program of the master's program "Ecology. Biodiversity and Nature Conservation (with the additional qualification 'Educator of Additional Education')" at St. Petersburg State University is the only educational program in Russia within which the problems of biodiversity conservation are studied in conjunction with the assessment of ecosystem services—that is, the benefits received by humanity from the functioning of natural ecosystems. Such an assessment is extremely necessary for resolving many issues in various areas of economic activity, including the allocation of specially protected natural areas.

What will they teach you?

  • Обучающиеся получают глубокую теоретическую подготовку и выполняют научно‑исследовательскую работу по анализу биоразнообразия на различных уровнях организации и изучению разнообразия экосистем.
  • Обучающиеся знакомятся с широким спектром прикладных задач в области экологии и природоохранной деятельности и приобретают практические навыки их решения.
  • По завершении программы выпускникам присваивается дополнительная квалификация «Педагог дополнительного образования».

What do graduates do?

Graduates of the program work in universities, research institutes, government departments, environmental design companies, specially protected natural areas, environmental services, production associations, etc.
