About the training program
Specialty 1.1. Mathematics and Mechanics (1.1.1 Real, Complex and Functional Analysis, 1.1.2 Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics, 1.1.8 Mechanics of Deformable Solids, 1.1.9 Fluid, Gas and Plasma Mechanics) is a group of scientific specialties within the mathematical and physical sciences. The field focuses on finding mathematical methods for describing mechanical systems and, conversely, using mechanical problems as a source of new mathematical challenges. It brings together fundamental science and practice: mathematical theories are applied in engineering, physics, aviation, construction, geology and many other fields.
What do graduates do?
Fundamental science and research: if you are interested in pure theory, you can become a researcher at a university or research institute.
Applied engineering challenges: knowledge of mechanics enables you to work on real-world technical challenges, including structural strength calculations, system dynamics analysis, and flow modelling (of liquids, gases, and plasma). All of this is needed in the aviation and space industries, mechanical engineering, energy, and the development of new materials.
IT and data analysis: strong mathematics skills provide an excellent foundation for working in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and algorithm development.
